give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18
One of my favorite Bible teachers is Beth Moore and I remember watching a sermon by her when she mentioned she is still doing life with us. She still struggles, hurts and experiences real life situations just like you and me. I too am coming to you honestly and transparently saying I too do life with you. I struggle to feel loved, I fight not to settle, I experience lack and disappointments as well. I know how hard it is to give thanks in ALL circumstances. I am not preaching at you but rather giving the much needed advice of a sister. We have got to give thanks in ALL things. Sometimes we sell that word all short, that does not mean when it's easy or when we see God in a situation. This means to be thankful even when our circumstance might seem dark, when we do not see there is a way, when we are hurting, even if you have to cry out your thanks; give thanks in ALL circumstances.
Let's be real, let's not sit here and act like it's just you, God and the angels; your soul has an enemy! This enemy wants you to be discontent with your circumstances, he desires for you to have a pity party and meditate on what you've lost and what you don't have; DON'T BUY IN! Combat all of your circumstances with thanksgiving! When things are going well, don't get comfortable in your blessing continue to offer thanksgiving. When things get bad? Don't get weighed down by your suffering offer up thanksgiving to God.
Hebrews 13:15 tells us to continually offer up the sacrifice of praise through Jesus. Why was it called a sacrifice? A sacrifice is not to suppose to feel good, a sacrifice is suppose to cost you something. Be thankful when it hurts, be thankful when it's hard, give thanks in ALL circumstances beloved for it is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
