& the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. & the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. & God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
- Genesis 1:2-3
I was listening to Let There Be by Gungor this morning and as I listened to the lyrics I began thinking about my own life and the life of others around me. I am big on praying the word and I got extremely excited when God showed me this morning we can also pray Genesis 1:2-3 over our lives and people we may know. God said let there be light because the earth was without form, void and dark. I am big on word study so I looked up those descriptions in the Hebrew. In the Hebrew that word darkness means misery, sorrow, death, wickedness, and obscurity. The earth being void in the Hebrew means the earth had nothing, it was empty. Another description of the earth prior to the light is formless and in the Hebrew that is translated as a waste, desolation, confusion, and wilderness.
What parts of your life are empty? What areas of your life are absent of life? Who do you know that is desolate & miserable?
Next I began to look up the word light. Now before I go any further it is important to note that this light is not the sun. The sun was created separate from the light (Genesis 1:16). The first time I realized this I was standing outside and I had to stop walking in awe of my Abba. The light was made before the sun, WOW, now that'll preach! So this word light in Hebrew is the word ore and it has such a beautiful meaning. Ore means the break of day, glorious, clear, kindle, set on fire, SHINE! God wants to set on fire the parts of your life that are miserable, sorrowful. Abba desires to bring clarity to the areas of confusion, what may appear to be a waste, God says let there be light! Beloved, your life ought to shine!!!
Where do you need God's light to shine in your life?
Are you empty today? Let there be light!
Are you in a place of confusion, lacking clarity? Let there be light!
Suicidal thoughts? Let there be light!
Absent life, absent dream? Let there be light?
My prayer for you today is that God's light will not only shine in your heart and in those areas of darkness but that you would WALK in the light (1 John). The areas of darkness in your life are a result of the lies that you believe about God, yourself, your circumstance and others. Walking in the light means walking in TRUTH. I pray that you Beloved beautiful, forgiven, princess of the king would walk in the spirit of truth. Let there be LIGHT in your life today and every day fourth.
