Whose Renting Space in Your Mind?

When you are searching for something to buy, particularly land or property think about what a sold sign says to you. Other than the obvious answer that the property is sold it also says to us that this property has an owner, it is taken, already in possession of another, off limits.

Think of your mind as property. There are so many influences in this world making offers for space in your mind. There are so many voices trying to conform your thinking both positively and negatively. It is up to us how we manage our mind and thoughts. Is your mind private property where only the things of God are allowed to enter? or is your mind public property like a city park for anything and anyone to come in and out of? This is a serious question that is to be evaluated. I find myself evaluating my own life concerning this very topic. Okay so confession! I love reality TV. Shows like Basketball Wives, The Kardashians and Jersey Shore are extremely addicting to me. This isn't by any means an attack on those shows but let's be completely real, they just don't glorify God or plant positive thoughts in my head. If anything they distract me from the things of God. Lately I've been evaluating what needs to be cut completely out of my life. I am realizing I have got to get more selective with what I let into my space. I can't be naive thinking that I can watch and listen to whatever I want without it affecting me. What have you been allowing into your space? What are you listening to? What are you watching? (stop and seriously ask yourself this)

The word of God is like the sold sign to be stuck on the property of our minds. That sold sign weighs heavier than any offer a potential buyer may want to make. A sold sign doesn't mean this property is taken but feel free to try to convince us otherwise. A sold sign means this is final, that is it, this property is taken. The word of God ought to act as a sold sign in our minds. For an example you've been meditating on Colossians 2:9-10 where it says you are complete in Christ and then maybe you're lonely and you want to go back to an ex. Maybe you know this season of your life should be committed to Christ. You standing on Colossians 2:9-10 should weigh heavier than any potential buyer trying to rent space in your mind in attempt to convince you that you need a man, or that if you're single something is wrong with you. When these thoughts come oppose to what you read in your Bible that isn't the time to question the word, quit, or give in! Christianity is NOT passive, this is a passionate, aggressive pursuit we've got to fight and quit being so wishy washy being moved by every little thing. When you read something in the word allow it to weigh more heavier than whatever you feel, see or hear!

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
- Hebrews 4:12

Beloved, there are so many influences in the world. There are so many voices and ideas that try to get you to conform to a lifestyle oppose to God's truth. Make the choice to conform only to the word through the renewing of your mind. Allow the word to stamp your mind SOLD! so that when foreign thoughts attempt to make an offer for the property of your mind it is clear where you stand, and who you believe. The word is so powerful. It's so much more than a book, it's a living and active penetrating, dividing , judging, LIFE CHANGING source that God has given to us as a weapon in this fight. Don't tolerate all types of thoughts and ideas in your space. Fight back with the word!
